Wisconsin Pt. 2

On the way back from the farm, Dad and I were driving toward Madison with a load of gravel to deliver to Andy for his deck project. While driving, Dad said "what is this guy doing" and as I looked up, a car was crossing the center line, and into our lane. Dad pulled over on to the shoulder as far as he could, but the on-coming driver swerved right into us (I saw the other driver just before impact, and he was slumped over the steering wheel). It was quite an impact, completely demolished the trailer full of gravel, and damaged the rear of the van enough to require a tow truck. The police officer said if it had been one second earlier, it would most likely have been a fatal, head-on collision. The trailer full of gravel probably padded the other driver, and also prevented him from going full-speed into the ditch. Dad and I were shaken up, and feeling very fortunate to be alive. The other driver, as far as I know, sustained minor injuries and went to the hospital in an ambulance. It makes me realize how fragile life is, and how in the blink of an eye, it can come to an end.
