Cochise Stronghold, AZ

What an awesome three days it has been at Cochise Stronghold. I feel so lucky to have such a great group of friends in Arizona. Catherine (and Asia), John, Joe, MG, Nestor, Annie, Sean, and I met up on Friday, January 29 at the Rad/Trad wall campsite. Bedtime was relatively early to make room for a 3-party 5-pitch climb at Sheapshead Dome the next day. Two parties (3 climbers each) climbed Ewephoria, while the third (2 climbers) climbed a harder 5-pitch next to us. It was so fun having eight people all climbing the same face. The pressure was on to get done before dark, and everyone did a great job being efficient. That night Joe and Nestor made fajitas for everyone, and the normal debauchery followed around a toasty fire.

The following day was spent getting up late, and climbing a variety of sport pitches near the campsite. Sean and Annie took off, and Lauren joined us for another great fire and a baked ham dinner (Thanks Joe and MG for picking up/cooking all the great food)!

On Monday, John, Lauren, and I went "hiking" which was really a lot of nasty bushwacking and scrambling. No wonder Cochise was nearly unstoppable in his domain...rough country with endless rocks that served as great hiding places. The others climbed a hard 5-pitch and were back by 7pm. MG, Joe, Nestor, Catherine, and I went to Denny's near Tombstone and headed back to Phoenix. I got home at 1am exhausted. What a great time! Thanks everyone!
