John's visit

Canadians on Gunko

Andrea and Nancy

John arrived on Wednesday afternoon and it's great to have a friend in town. We went out for awhile and got him settled in my hostel. The following day, we went climbing in the morning with Cesar and three of his clients. John and I helped out with belaying until the rain forced us to leave. John also anchored himself on top of the wall and literally "hung out" to snap the above photos from a cool perspective. That night, we went out to a few places, had a great dinner, went to a fund-raising event for local volunteer groups, and John won a free river rafting trip and a bottle of rum in the raffle. We knew one of us would win the trip, but the rum was a surprise ;) I got to introduce John to my friends in Boquete, and we had a very fun evening. Today, we woke up early and hiked the Pianista trail into the cloud forest, hiked back into town for lunch, and went to Explorador, the funky garden that I mentioned in a previous post. Then we met Lyn for dinner at La Posada. Tomorrow, we are booking our rafting trip, going to the travel agent to book Pacific Coast and Bocas tickets, climbing in the morning, and hiking to new rock towers discovered by Cesar and Janeth. John brought along 25 climbing hangers and bolts to establish the new climbs (special thanks to Mike in Phoenix for the pro hook-up and to John for hauling the metal in his backpack).
