Sedona

January 16, 2010

Despite all the hilarious tourist hype of this "spiritual epicenter" with its many vortexes, clarevoyants, and healers, I have always found that I really feel different when I go to Sedona. I have had many adventures here through climbing, hiking, biking, swimming, and cliff jumping. Some of the biggest physical accomplishments of my life were achieved here, and many friendships have been solidified as a result. I nearly lost my life on two occasions, but somehow, as if this place were looking out for me, I pulled through stronger and with more wisdom for future endeavours.

I visited my friend Timmy Kehoe who moved to Sedona about the same time I moved to Flagstaff six years ago. I know Timmy from Milwaukee. We went for a hike near Coffee Pot Rock to see if we could find my friend Mike who was Climbing "Dr. Rubo's Wild Ride." We did find him, and ended up hiking to a saddle between Coffee Pot and Thunder Mountain. The views were spectacular as usual, and we made it down just in time for complete darkness.

That night, Timmy and I went to Oak Creek Brewery, a favorite local spot where Timmy is an assistant brewer. That means free beer for Timmy. That translates into free beer for me, and the party that we went to because Timmy brought a case along. The party was a blast...Nice fire, cool people, Shrinky-dink crafts (yes, the original shrinky-dinks that you color and bake). We went to bed very late.
